|
A
= 4.0
|
Work of exceptional
quality, which often goes beyond the stated goals of the
course. |
|
A- = 3.7
|
Work of very high quality. |
| B+ =
3.3 |
Work of high quality that indicates substantially higher than
average abilities. |
| B =
3.0 |
Very good work that satisfies the goals of the
course. |
| B- = 2.7 |
Good work. |
| C+ = 2.3 |
Above average work. |
| C = 2.0 |
Average work that indicates an
understanding of the course material; passable. Satisfactory
completion of a course is considered to be a grade of C or
higher.
|
| C-= 1.7 |
Passing work but below Good Academic
Standing. |
| D = 1.0 |
Below average work that indicates a
student does not fully understand the assignments. Probation
level though passing for credit. |
| F = 0.0 |
Failure, no credit. |
| W |
Withdrawal.
This grade can only be assigned by the
Registration Office. If a student withdraws from a course
during the add/drop period, the course is deleted from
his or her permanent record. If a student withdraws
between the fourth and seventh weeks and completes
an Add/Drop form, obtaining advisor approvals and
submitting it to the Registration Office, he or she will
receive a grade of W, assigned by the Registrar. A blue
receipt provided by the Registration Office to the
student confirms that a withdrawal has been made.
This should be kept with other personal records.
No withdrawals are allowed after the seventh week of
classes. There is no penalty for a grade of W.
|
| WF |
Unofficial Withdraw/Failure.
Withdrawal Failing. Instructors may assign this grade
to indicate that a student has unofficially withdrawn or
stopped attending classes. It may also be issued when
a student fails to submit a final project or to take an
examination without prior notification or approval
from the instructor. The WF grade is equivalent to an
F when calculating the grade point average (zero grade
points) and no credit is awarded. |
| I |
Incomplete grade.
A grade of I (Incomplete), signifying a temporary deferment of a
regular grade, may be assigned when coursework has been delayed
at the end of the semester for unavoidable and legitimate
reasons. Incomplete grades are given only with the written
approval of the instructor and the major department Chair. The
Request for an Incomplete Grade form must be filled out by the
student and instructor prior to the end of the semester.
For undergraduate students, if a grade of incomplete is approved,
outstanding work must be submitted within a period of four weeks
after the last day of class. A grade of I will automatically
convert to a permanent unofficial withdrawal
(WF) after a period of four weeks. For graduate students, the
deadline for completion of an incomplete is one year.

|
| I |
Incomplete grade. A temporary grade
issued only at the written request of the student with the
instructor’s consent. Request for Incomplete forms are
available at the University Records Office and the Deans’
Offices. The time allowed for the removal of a grade of
“I” for a graduate student is one year from the end
of the course in which the course was taken. Refer to your
divisional bulletin for information governing “I”
grades. |
| P/U |
Pass or Unsatisfactory.
“P” and “U” grades are not included in
GPA calculation.
|
| W |
Withdrawal. A “W” should
be issued to students who either never attended or who stopped
attending classes without dropping. A pre-printed “W”
will appear in the grade column when a student officially
withdraws through the Registration Office; no other grade can be
entered for that student. |
